Making new research understandable to everyone
Science Featured explains new peer-reviewed research for a wider audience, with the scientists who did the work. Science Featured is an entity of Science Bridges, a Canadian non-profit organization.
Mission
Most research is published in language written for specialists. Science Featured explains new findings for readers outside the field (other scientists, students, practitioners, funders and the public) without losing accuracy. Every feature is free to read, without a paywall, registration or advertising.
We have featured research from universities, hospitals, institutes and companies around the world, across medicine, the life sciences, engineering, the environment, physics, chemistry and the social sciences. See the featured institutes.
How we work
We start from papers that have already been published after peer review. Our editorial team writes each feature from the paper, checks it against the paper, and sends it to the authors, who correct and approve it before anything is published. Each feature names the researchers, links to the original paper by DOI and gives its full citation. Our editorial standards describe this in detail.
Funding
The sources of funding for Science Featured include contributions from scientists we work with and the support of the Science Bridges community, in addition to donations and referrals, where indicated. We only publish what the paper supports.
